What do you think of when you hear about wood fired surf wax, home made pizza ovens, mushroom handplanes and a stone surfboard? Yup, it's that time of year, time for the 4th Annual Surf Re-Evolution. Mark your calendars for Saturday September 27th cause you're not going to want to miss it. Bring your kids, your parents, your friends... heck bring your surfboard (if you're a DIY type). The day kicks off at 9am at Long Sands Beach with a board demo and Paipo-Mania. Come on down, and try a variety of boards and paipos of all shapes and sizes - both ours and those of invited shapers. Then head the shop on the farm at 2pm for fun and festivities. This year in addition to all of the hands-on activities including screen printing, handplane shaping and surf wax making, we have some special guests that we're honored to have participating.
Ed from Enjoy Handplanes will be here along with the folks from Ecovative. They'll be the ones growing and shaping handplanes from mushroom spores... yup it's really true. Jon Wegener will be on hand to talk about and shape some finless creations. You'll even have an opportunity to make your own. Our good friends Pierce and Petra will be here showing their newest film, What the Sea Gives Me. Following that, we'll be premiering Expencive Porno Film which features the likes of Mikey DeTemple, Kassia Meador and Scotty Stopnik. Rey from Entropy Resins will be on hand to offer a glassing demo and answer any questions you might have on the subject. Live music get you going? We're honored to have The Mattson 2 play two sets throughout the day. Then local favorites Tiger Belly will ring in the evening as the bonfire lights up the sky. We have food vendors from around the area including Flatbread, Good T'Go, Vida Verde, Bob's Clamhut and more. And some great beverages from Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, White Heron Tea and more. Our friends from 3S Artspace and Chases Garage Gallery will be on hands offering live art and hands-on art opportunities for kids.
Tickets are $12 online or $15 at the gate. For more information, check out our event page. This event is only possible with the generous sponsorship from our friends at Dogfish Head Craft Brewery and support from 3S Artspace.
