These last few months have challenged us, as the blog silence from Grain HQ may have suggested, but we've bounced right back. After our Kickstarter Project last year and the building out of our mobile classroom, we headed west to teach a series of classes from Cardiff, California to Portland, Oregon. Despite a string of unfortunate events - including a close encounter with a Great White and the theft of our new classroom trailer and all the equipment - we managed to return home with a sense of accomplishment and an appreciation for all of you who helped make it a reality.
Now here we are, spring 2014 in our sights. While we're still in the grips of February with plenty of cold still ahead, the days are getting longer and the sap is starting to run. In New England, these are the glory days of winter, the ones most of us look forward to. Beautiful sunshine, white glistening snow, and empty lineups. Surf in the morning, break trail across the fields in the afternoon.
In addition to building some beautiful new custom boards here in the shop, we just wrapped up two great classes in a new and exciting venue for us, Patagonia Surf Bowery in NYC. Everyone was so pleased with the results that we may be returning this spring for more classes and workshops.
This week we head west again, heads held high, for classes at Patagonia Cardiff and at Firehouse 33 in San Francisco. Then we dive headfirst into spring and summer here in Maine.
Along with business as usual, we're excited to announce a partnership with Chewonki in Wiscasset, Maine. Students (limited to ages 16- 18) in this class will enjoy a full board-building experience, then take their new craft on the road for an adventurous exploration of surf in Nova Scotia. Check it out here.
We're also listening to what a lot of you have to say, and are beginning to think about a Fall East Coast class tour with hopes of heading as far south as the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida. More on that soon, so keep checking back. In the meantime, don't forget to visit our online store for T's, HomeGrown kits and our new Full-Size Paper Plans for most of our board models.
From all of us here at Grain, thank you all for your support. We couldn't do it without you.
