A Visit to Our Amagansett NY Shop
A little more than a year after the start of the pandemic and I was on the road. I haven’t been outside of New England for a year but I was on my way to visit Brian, Aynsley and Theo at our Amagansett NY shop.
In early April of 2020 the Grain NY crew took a huge step and signed a lease on a new storefront right on Main Street in Amagansett. Within days, the pandemic hit and the Governer locked down the state of New York. But in true Grain form, they held on, evolved their business to accommodate the changing times, and came through stronger than before.
Heading into this summer, they’re ready to share their new space with all of you. Their storefront at 249 Main Street is half retail store, half workshop space. Visit and you’ll see a collection of Grain surfboards and skateboards, and surf products from companies like Rareform, Jimbos Wax, Slowtide, Mizu and more. They have hand-made furniture, custom framing and home goods from their sister company Stick + Stone. And they feature art from people like Scott Bluedorn, Peter Spacek, Rebecca Dolber and more. Check their schedule for shows and exhibits all summer long. You can even spend a few hours or a few days and build your own surfboard, handplane or skateboard. They offer kids woodworking workshops all summer long too.
I’ve always said every ferry ride is like a mini vacation in itself, and heading to the east end of Long Island from Maine means three ferrys each way, so the trip was a treat. Seeing Grain NY’s new space for the first time gave me a real appreciation for all of the hard work they’ve put in this past year and how they've evolved and expanded what they do. But the best part were the smiles and hugs from our Grain family who I haven’t seen in what felt like forever.
Enjoy summer, and be sure to visit both our locations if you find yourself in Amagansett NY or York Maine. We look forward to seeing you.
