5th Annual Surf Re-Evolution

A perfect day, perfect waves, great music and hundreds of friends gathering to eat, drink, and be merry.

5th Annual Surf Re-Evolution doing it's thing...

Why do we (collectively) put so much effort into a one-day event? Why do we ask these people to travel so far to be here? We love where we live and work and we love to share it with people, bringing our community together to share our passions, to inspire conversations and to encourage change. Sure we like to surf with friends (hint- Jon Wegener brings waves with him everytime he comes here, knock on wood), share some beers and talk shapes, methods and materials, but there’s more than that. There’s a magic to the event, as if just the right ingredients combine to create a feeling in the air that’s almost palpable. It re-charges us and we thank each and every one of you for coming out and making the Re-Evolution what it has become. Until next year, get out there and take in the foliage, enjoy the season and embrace the change!

All above photos thanks to Kingspoke.

Ten years since our first, and I’m as excited as ever to start building a new board. It’s quiet here in the shop today. Johnny’s out back railing up a 11’6”, the rest of the crew are off hiking, taking in the foliage, working on the farm or doing what they do when they're not here, and I’m sitting at my desk basking in the quieter days, daydreaming about what’s next, what 2016 might look like and what board I’m going to start this afternoon. This is my favorite time of year, a time of change, reflection and renewed energy. Change is good… even if it does mean the stunning yellows, oranges, reds and greens fade away into the past!

Surf Re-Evolution serves as a cornerstone to these changes for us. It marks the end of the summer months and the beginning of our real surf season. It’s a happy time for us all as we gather friends from all over the place, bring them here to the farm to celebrate change... in the weather, the waves, in the energy around the shop and of course change in the surf world.

At this 5th Surf Re-Evolution, we were again honored to be joined by old friends like Jon Wegener and Rey Banatao from Entropy, as well as new faces like Andy Davis, Donald Brink and the guys from Bureo Skateboards. We were also proud to serve up some great beers from Smuttynose Brewing Company and Dogfish Head Craft Brewery!
