Join us and Surfrider Foundation Maine Chapter on Thursday, August 2nd for an evening of surf film and fun at the Wells Reserve at Laudholm. The feature film will be White Waves, an award-winning documentary about surfers fighting against unseen pollution in the sea. Enjoy a local brew from the cash bar, and listen to live music from Jonathan Blakeslee and the Band of Fronds, the newest name for the band that has been playing at our Surf Re-Evolution bonfires since the first one!

7-9pm, doors open at 6pm, tickets available here. Proceeds from ticket sales support the education, conservation, and research efforts going on at the Wells Reserve.

Big Andrew

11th ANNUAL BIG ANDREW

On Sunday, August 12th our friends at The Big Andrew Foundation are back for their 11th year of having fun for a great cause. The Big Andrew Surf Contest will be held at Long Sands in York, Maine, with all proceeds raised benefiting seacoast cancer patients and their families.

In addition to the surf contest, there will be a grill going all day, a beach clean up with Surfrider Foundation - Maine Chapter, a raffle, and finally a paddle out held in memory of Andrew Gmelch, a good friend and local surfer who passed away in 2007 after a two year battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

More info on the surf contest on the Facebook event page here.

SEPTEMBER BEACH DAY & SOIRÉE

Come on out and join us as we celebrate the cooler fall weather and hopefully more consistent swell this September 22nd for a beach day and hangout.

We'll kick off the day at Long Sands beach with a board demo and beach clean-up. Surfrider Maine will be providing gear for cleaning up the beach as the tide goes out. We'll have a handful of Grain boards to take out for a few test waves, and we welcome any local shapers to bring boards to demo as well.

Rumor has it, Jon Wegener will be in town, with some of his boards to try out too. He'll even be teaching a finless board workshop Sept. 20-21 for those looking to shape up a paipo or alaia under his master tutelage.

Finally, later in the afternoon we'll meet up at Hooks Chill & Grille in Ogunquit right next to the Liquid Dreams Surf Shop for a a hang out, some groovy tunes from Jon Wegener and Sean Tully of Second Harvest, local beer specials and more, all with proceeds going to Surfrider Foundation Maine Chapter
