15 December 2016
We're firm believers in - and get excited by - all the potential promise that the future holds... and that's why we see the coming year as one big possibility for great things to happen. We've already started filling it up with all the classes we normally hold here at the farm in Maine as well as at our Amaganssett location. In addition, Nolan'll be on the road, pounding up and down the west coast running classes from Patagonia Cardiff to Port Townsend Wa, and everywhere in between.
New for 2017, we're proud to host (April, in Maine) our friends at Chesapeake Light Craft (CLC) in the person of pro boatbuilder Geoff Kerr to offer a 5-day SUP board building class. Students can choose to build either the 12'6" or 14' version of CLC's Kohalo model, and each goes home with their own board just about ready to paddle. Geoff is a seasoned CLC instructor and will be lead instructor - though the boards will be Grain-flavored with our locally grown cedar as the decks. Just like all of our classes, we'll throw in two delicious meals a day, plus access to our full quiver of demo surfboards and a few paddleboards to mess around on. As a bonus, just down the road is a gorgeous tidal marsh for those looking for a little paddle time before and after class.
Coming up on the holidays and not sure what to do for your favorite surfer? Our mini surfboard kits make perfect stocking stuffers and placeholders for future experiences to be had with Grain. Loved by kids and adults, our mini-kits come with all all the components needed to build your own mini hollow wood board, frame, rails, planks, glue, sandpaper... they even have our logo burned in. And they're now available in 3 shapes including a fish, mini-simmons and the original fun shape.
Today's the deadline for holiday orders, but if you're on the nice list, we might be able to get you a mini-kit or gift certificate for a full-on class even into early next week. But don't wait. Time is running out.
