Staying in Touch with Grain Surfboards

Social Networking Help Page

RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication” which just means it’s a way for you to “subscribe” to our blog. For instance, you can magically receive links to new blog posts which will appear right in a special menu (called “live bookmarks”) in the web browser you’re using to read this right now. You don’t have to do anything but click the orange icon and choose how you want to receive the “feed” – new bookmarks will just show up in your browser whenever we post in our blog.

Facebook is a very active place with 500 million users. We often post things up there several times a day, and maintain conversations with other surfers, former students, kit builders and surf industry cool-cats. That’s where we throw up pics, short videos, and refer you to other friends of ours with interesting stuff going on. Notices of recent blog posts and other stuff of interest – including goofy stuff that just amuses us – makes it up on Facebook at least every couple of days.

Twitter lets you send and get short text messages to and from Grain on your phone or your computer. Accounts are free. Just click the icon to sign up, or to follow Grain. We send notices to Twitter of new blog posts being posted as soon as we get them, as well as heads-ups on things that people may want to respond to right away, like meeting us at the beach, pending newsletters that you may want to sign up for, or the end of sales.

You can see this field sprinkled all over our website – including at the bottom of most pages – it just lets you sign up for our newsletter which we send via email once every few months. The newsletter usually contains info about new boards, parties we’re throwing, or other fun stuff that’s either coming up or has already happened. We don’t give your email address to anybody, so no fear of new spam for signing up. Check out some of our previous newsletters to get a taste.

Other Ways to Stay in Touch

Though few of us have the eye that Nick does, we still have a great time looking through snapshots of wood boards – especially with you on them. If you’ve got pictures from taking a class here, or of a board you or we built in action, share it using Flickr (see instructions on the “Pictures of Your Boards” page). Same with video – let us know if you’ve posted something cool on YouTube, and we’ll try to add it to one of our playlists.

And of course, you can always email or call us. We try to answer every email we get, and you’ll usually get something back from either Nolan, Mike or Brad within a day or so.
