A Quiet Revolution
Admit it. You’re just a little bit odd. All your friends are still clinging to their bright white, fragile surfboards. But you chose wood – you probably even built it yourself… but in any case, you think differently and you’ve set yourself apart because of it.
We thought you’d like to be in touch with some like-minded, slightly off-kilter others who also see the value in making choices that are out of the mainstream. That’s why we’re helping to support Surf Roots Revolution, a membership organization initially made up of every kit, custom board or surfboard-building class student we’ve ever known. To start, we’re creating a place where you can get in touch with one another, either online or in real-life for the purpose of sharing the knowledge you and others have gleaned as you learned to build and to love wood surfboards.
We’re building you an online home called the “Surf Roots Swap Shop” where you can go to trade knowledge and tools with each other and with Grain HQ. Some other things you’ll find there:
- A member directory that will make it easy to get in touch
- Areas to swap, loan, buy and sell
- Tips & tricks section – yours, other member’s and some right from Grain’s shop floor
- Live chat utility for groups, or to contact Grain directly
- Event calendar open to all members
- Discounts for events and gear
We celebrate those of you that live on the fringe of the surf culture – that have found unexpected rewards in the choice to surf wood, or to build your own. For you, we’re helping support this Surf Roots Revolution, a place that fosters a community of surfers who share a passion for building wood surfboards in the garage as god intended.
