Build It, Surf It
Grain Surfboards was created by a group of friends with a similar vision: to face up to our responsibility for the environmental impacts of surfing but still to surf a great board. What surprised us was that building our own boards heightened our surfing experience in every way. Every piece of wood has a purpose and every piece adds to the experience, whether it’s the amazing book-matched grain patterns, or the fact that the rails were carefully shaped with traditional hand tools. No noise, no dust, no distractions.
Now we’re offering that experience to you with a Home Grown
Wooden Surfboard Kit. All of our kits are put together by hand in Maine from locally grown, sustainably harvested northern white cedar. Each kit comes with all the materials you need to build your own board: board frame, cedar planks and rail strips, fin box, leash plug, glue, epoxy, fiberglass, rubber gloves and more. Every step of this process has been thought through and is detailed in our *NEW* 170 page instruction manual. Each board takes approximately 50 hours to build, but will be around for a lifetime of waves. Need some inspiration?
