Grain Surfboards Plans West Coast Invasion, Booth at Sacred Craft
August 22nd, 2007, by MikeEven though our roots will always stay on the Right Coast, the surfing mecca of Southern California beckons, and this Fall, we’re listening. Grain Surfboards has many customers, builders and interested surfers hailing from Southern California, so soon, we’ll be heading out to meet them in person.
Starting in early October, the Grain staff will leave Maine, head west towards the Northwest city of Portland, Oregon. From here we’ll get started on our West Coast tour, driving south along the Oregon and California coasts visiting retail shops, surfing and offering board demos wherever possible.
We’ll also be planning some events for all of our Home Grown kit builders in the area. It will be good to finally meet everyone that we’ve been in touch with, helping them move their board projects toward completion. If you’re going to be around the best surf spots along the West coast in mid-October, give us a holler.
Then we’ll make our way to the Sacred Craft Consumer Surfboard Expo on Oct 13th and 14th at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in San Diego. Grain is proud to have a booth at this event alongside some of the greatest surfboard craftspeople in the business. We’ll be at the show to display our custom wooden surfboards and Home Grown kits, as well as new Grain apparel.

Yes we will definitely be stopping through the area. While our plans are still tentative, we are allowing several days in the San Francisco area and hope to visit some shops and setup a demo while we’re there. Thanks for your note. We will not have custom boards for sale at the Expo in Del Mar. We will have some kits on hand for sale and of course if your interested in a custom board, we can talk about it then and take your order there. Were looking forward to coming out there and meeting everyone.

The surf is usually quite fun around these parts (Del Mar) in October. Any chance of getting to *ride* a demo board? Or do I really have to buy a kit, build it, and then ride it…

Trevor – we don’t have any plans, but we can make you a complete kit that contains everything you need. It’s almost as much of a challenge as doing it from scratch, but all the dozens of parts that are a pain to source and make are all ready for you to start the project right away instead of hunting around.
