Merry, Happy Surfers

Today was a big day, probably our biggest in the Grain Surfboards shop. Through a combination of great press, promotions and many, many surfers and builders finding their way to Grain, we’ve reached a new milestone at the company: Our first double-digit order day.

Grain received a combination of online, phone and email orders today for more custom surfboards and Home Grown Surfboard kits than we’ve ever received in a single day. These orders came on top of a banner month for the shop and will require all hands on deck to put all the orders together!

Here’s a shot of Mike building the first board out in the driveway of the original Grain shop in York…

In addition to this milestone, we received a note from a happy customer that helped make all of the hard work worthwhile. Thanks Jess! Glad the board is every thing you dreamed of. We had a feeling it would be.

it’s jess! i LOVE my new fish it is the most incredible thing every made on this planet

i am still getting used to the size (it is 2 ft smaller than anything i have ever ridden) but it is so fast! no joke, the first time i caught a wave i dropped in and i must have been going M3; i fell off it was so fast! but don’t worry i am going to be pulling airs and even sweet-er floaters soon!

it must take me half hour to get in the water every time i surf because everyone wants to hold/touch/talk about how beautiful my board is.

mike, thanks again for making this dream possible. my board is so much more than i ever dreamed of….

hope all is well with you and Gretchen…i am in the middle of finals… so more later.

peace and olas

I found this website through the article in Wooden Boat. I don’t even surf. I live in CT not exactly a hot spot for surfing. That said, I’m saving up for the bellyboard kit. I’ll take it to RI and try it there. Congratulations on the milestone.

This summer while in surfing in NC, my buddy who was living there with me got an issue of Wooden Boat in the mail sent to him by his father who lives in Louisiana. The write up they did on you guys was wicked good, and being a Maine boy I was very proud. It’s friggin awesome to see such broad coverage. My friend has vowed to one day own a Grain Surfboard, and after seeing one in the waves last weekend while surfing in York it is now too on my wish list.

hope you see this… and hope the Grain folks ok it.

yeah, we’re not a hotspot for surfing in CT … but we have more than 100 folks in CT who are Surfrider members (most surf)! We just started out a CT Chapter last year and hope you’ll check us out. (www.surfrider.org/connecticut)

we’ll be contacting the Grain folks soon (their frames are from Stonington!) about maybe posting on our site!

Grain Guys/Gals – wow. what beautiful looking boards.
