Post Holiday Crunch Time Friday, December 29th, 2006

The pace here at Grain has picked up again following the holiday madness. Were busy getting ready for Surf Expo, as well as finishing some custom board orders. We’ve also started shaping our own wooden fins in house at the Grain shop. Keep an eye on the site for more progress on Grain custom wooden fins.

Transworld Business: “Waves of Grain”

Ramping up for the Holidays Friday, December 15th, 2006

We’ve got a lot going on these days, trying to ship a ton of kits in time for the holidays and finish a bunch of boards before we head to Surf Expo in Orlando. We’re currently working on two big Waterlogs, a 9′0 Root, two 6′4″ Wherry fishes, two 5′10″ Waka’s and a custom performance Fish experiment. More on this new fish soon, keep your eyes on grainsurfboards.com.

Here are some shots from the Grain shop yesterday.

Merry, Happy Surfers Tuesday, December 12th, 2006

Today was a big day, probably our biggest in the Grain Surfboards shop. Through a combination of great press, promotions and many, many surfers and builders finding their way to Grain, we’ve reached a new milestone at the company: Our first double-digit order day.

Grain received a combination of online, phone and email orders today for more custom surfboards and Home Grown Surfboard kits than we’ve ever received in a single day. These orders came on top of a banner month for the shop and will require all hands on deck to put all the orders together!

Here’s a shot of Mike building the first board out in the driveway of the original Grain shop in York…

In addition to this milestone, we received a note from a happy customer that helped make all of the hard work worthwhile. Thanks Jess! Glad the board is every thing you dreamed of. We had a feeling it would be.

it’s jess! i LOVE my new fish it is the most incredible thing every made on this planet

i am still getting used to the size (it is 2 ft smaller than anything i have ever ridden) but it is so fast! no joke, the first time i caught a wave i dropped in and i must have been going M3; i fell off it was so fast! but don’t worry i am going to be pulling airs and even sweet-er floaters soon!

it must take me half hour to get in the water every time i surf because everyone wants to hold/touch/talk about how beautiful my board is.

mike, thanks again for making this dream possible. my board is so much more than i ever dreamed of….

hope all is well with you and Gretchen…i am in the middle of finals… so more later.

peace and olas

GRAIN SURFBOARDS WINS SURF EXPO “LAUNCH” CONTEST Friday, December 1st, 2006

We’re headed to Orlando, Florida!

Grain Surfboards has just been chosen as one of the ten hottest up and coming companies in the surf industry, and has been invited to exhibit at Surf Expo in Orlando Florida this January. Grain was chosen as a Launch Contest winner from a field of hundreds of new companies, narrowed down to 25 finalists, then 10 winning brands were chosen from there.

Were pretty excited to say the least, as the selection criteria included proving the product’s innovation, marketability, production quality and potential for our growing brand. The judges were impressed and excited to include Grain Surfboards as one of 10 companies to “Launch”. We’ll be down in Orlando from January 11-13th at the Grain booth, showing our custom built surfboards as well as our newly released Home Grown Surfboard Kits and apparel. We look forward to seeing you there.
